These Glass Blueberry Earrings feature my handmade unripe glass blueberry beads hung on 14/20 Gold-Filled french wires. The berries are accented by green Czech firepolished crystals. Like real blueberries, these glass ones start out light green in color. They begin to ripen at the flower end first, by blushing into deep ruby red. The edges of the flower star on each blueberry have been rounded to prevent them from chipping or snagging on clothing. Because the molten glass has been formed around a loop of copper wire, the stem cannot be pulled out. These beads are hand-formed individually in the flame of a torch by melting in many layers of powdered transparent glass, so the color can never rub, flake or chip off. No two blueberries are exactly alike.
I make unripe blueberries in a range of colors from sour light green through tart red (shown), purple, and almost-ripe violet. These additional color variations can be seen on the Blueberries Page. If you would like the ones on your earrings to be a ripeness other than the mostly-red shown here, please specify when you order. To keep the earrings light in weight, I normally use blueberry beads that are about 10mm in size. However, I can make them as small as 6mm or as large as 14mm if you prefer.
Alternative earring findings including post, leverback and clip-on are available for a slight upcharge. Other blueberry earring variations and matching necklaces can be seen on the Blueberries Page of this site. Blueberry earrings can also be custom made with high-karat gold or platinum findings and accented with Swarovski Crystal or gemstone beads.
